Alanya, Belek, Side or Kemer?

The weather in Turkey is pleasant all year round and the Turkish Riviera has a lot to offer. You can have a relaxing and exciting holiday at its seaside resorts.

Alanya
The resort town, which has a history of over 200 years and is sandwiched between the sea and the Taurus Mountains, has quickly become one of the most popular holiday destinations. Cleopatra’s sandy and stone beach, which is over 4 kilometres long, beckons you for a sunny holiday here. According to legend, the Queen of Egypt herself bathed in the azure waters surrounding Alanya.

But the beach and the sea are not everything; there is something for everyone. While wandering around Alanya, it is worth visiting the harbour, where social life is lively and exciting views can be seen: the picturesque restored quays or the Red Tower, built in the 13th century and home to the Ethnography Museum. There is no shortage of atmospheric cafes, restaurants, stone houses and hotels in the area. It gets quite busy and lively in the evenings.

Another attraction of Alanya is the numerous bazaars that you can find in every district of the city. They operate on different days depending on the location. The most famous one, the Friday Market, is located near the port and is held every Friday. You can buy everything there: fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, olives, spices, Turkish sweets, as well as souvenirs and clothes.

It is also worth visiting the castle. Built in the 14th century, the castle is located at the top of a peninsula that extends into the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean. From here you can enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding area.

You can also enjoy the panorama of the city (and beyond!) from the observation deck of the observation deck. This is a place where you can take a souvenir photo with a sign saying "I love Alanya", walk along the streets between the fountains or have a picnic or have a coffee at a local restaurant.

It is also worth going away from the center of Alanya and go to the Dimcay River, where there are pubs and bars on the platforms. Here you can enjoy typical Turkish delicacies, a cup of coffee and relax in the beautiful natural surroundings. It is the perfect place to relax (phone coverage is almost non-existent here) and those who wish to do so can swim in the icy waters of the river or in the slightly warmer pools.
